What began as her own search for honest swatches, nuanced shade guidance, and products that truly work has evolved into a welcoming space for beauty lovers seeking clarity and confidence. 1. Tell me about yourself and the Porcelain Veil. How was it created? Where does the name come from?
My name is Olivia and I’m a 26-year-old from New York City who has always had a deep love for beauty. I currently lead investor relations at an investment company after completing my master’s degree in real estate finance and investment at NYU Schack, but a core part of my identity has always been being a beauty lover and an unofficial expert through years of testing every product you can imagine. I have always been the friend people text from Sephora when they feel overwhelmed by all the options.
I created The Porcelain Veil because it is the page I wish existed for myself. I have ultra fair skin that can be pretty finicky with makeup, so I can’t just buy every trending product, definitely not in the most popular shade. I had to learn a lot about color theory to figure out what actually enhances my skin tone instead of fighting against it. I am constantly searching for product swatches and product demonstrations on fair skin, so I decided to create that resource myself because I know so many others are looking for the same thing.
I landed on the name The Porcelain Veil because I wanted to “lift the veil” on fair skin beauty and show what products really look like on our tones. I also love thinking of my own fair skin as porcelain, and I wanted the name to celebrate that rather than hide it.
2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of the Porcelain Veil?
Cozy and casual, like FaceTiming with your best friend who makes you want to revamp your entire beauty routine. It’s meant to feel warm, honest, and a little bit indulgent.
3. What inspires you?
My mom inspires me the most. She is the original beauty lover in my life. And honestly, Pinterest. It’s where I go to pull inspiration for everything from makeup looks to overall mood.
4. What does your beauty routine look like?
Five days a week I am in the office and usually rushing out the door in the morning, so I am lucky if I get on a tinted SPF, a touch of concealer, and a cream blush. But on the weekends, I love to give myself at least an hour to sit and do my makeup and actually enjoy the process. Having that time and being in no rush is my comfort time. I love savoring every step and will go through a full glam routine, even though the end result is still very me and very natural.
5. What does your skincare routine look like?
I do best with an uncomplicated routine, so I try not to overload my skin with too many products. But unfortunately for me, I have become completely obsessed with Augustinus Bader. My skin loves the cleanser, The Cream, The Rich Cream, and the eye cream. The ingredients, the natural scent, and even the packaging give me that luxe experience that actually motivates me to take care of my skin and enjoy the process. I genuinely look forward to my skincare routine every day.
For exfoliation, I swear by the Medicube Zero Pore Pads, which thankfully are very well priced. They keep my skin smooth without irritation and have been one of my most consistent staples.
6. What’s next for you?
I’m getting married this June in New York City, so I’m really excited for that next chapter of my life. I’m also really looking forward to spending time with our families this summer and soaking in all the moments around the wedding.
