LAUNE x Raisya Roeslani

Raisya Roeslani is a Jakarta-born creative currently based in New York City. After growing up between Indonesia and the UK, she moved to New York, where her love for design, fashion, and visual storytelling continues to evolve. Equal parts social and introspective, Raisya draws inspiration from the people around her, the aesthetics she’s drawn to, and the everyday moments that spark creativity. Her LAUNE sits comfortably between chill and outgoing, guided by intuition, curiosity, and a genuine love for creating.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Hi! I’m Raisya, I’m 22 from Jakarta, Indonesia. I grew up there before moving abroad at 14 to attend boarding school in the UK. After that, I moved to New York to study Architecture at Parsons School of Design. I’ve always leaned heavily into my creative side, whether that was drawing, singing, performing, creating any kind of art or (very importantly) dressing up. I think all of those interests really shaped who I am today. Now, I’m currently interning at an interior design firm and I’ve been loving the experience so far!

2. What is your LAUNE (mood)?

I think people would describe me as chill and outgoing. I’m very social and love being around people, but I also have a strong homebody side. I really value my alone time so I like to think I’ve found a pretty good balance between the two.

3. What inspires you?

My biggest source of inspiration has always been the people around me. I’ve been incredibly lucky to be surrounded by friends who are insanely smart, creative, talented, and genuinely cool, and being in that kind of environment constantly pushes me to do better and think more creatively.

My parents are also a huge source of inspiration in my life. My dad is the hardest working person I know and constantly reminds me that no dream is impossible if you truly put your heart and mind into it. And my mom has the most impeccable eye for fashion and design. Her style is definitely more on the mature side, but that means I already have a moodboard on what to wear when I’m older hahaha and everyone always says we’re basically twins, which honestly makes me feel very at ease about what I’ll look like at 50.

Beyond people, I draw inspiration from social media, art, fashion, and everyday moments. We live in a time where inspiration is everywhere and so accessible — sometimes it’s just a random outfit, a space, or a moment that instantly clicks.

4. What drives your creative process and content?

A mix of intuition and aesthetics. I'm a very visual person so anything that feels elevated, aesthetic, or fun usually inspires me. At the heart of it, I’ve always loved creating and editing since I was a kid. I remember I used to bring my camera with me everywhere and I was always taking pictures of things and making videos and over time it became a really safe and creative outlet for me. Now, I love sharing things that feel genuine, whether it’s a look, a place, or simply a mood I’m loving in the moment.

5. What do you love about New York?

Literally everything!! But one of my favorites is how diverse the city is, it truly feels like there’s a place for everyone here. Living here for almost five years now, New York has shaped me so much into the person I am today. Everyone is incredibly creative, inspiring, and talented, and I love constantly meeting new people and making connections.

I also feel like I’ll never get bored of this city. There’s always something to do depending on your mood, whether you’re looking for a chill night or a spontaneous weekday party, you’ll always find something that somehow turns into one of the fun nights ever. Lately, my girlfriends and I have been loving cute bars and hotel bars, mostly for the vibes and taking pictures.

6. What are you looking forward to in 2026?

I’m really looking forward to seeing where my career takes me, even though it’s definitely scary and nerve-wracking at times. I’m currently working at an interior design firm, and it’s my first professional experience working in New York. So far, I’ve been loving it and learning so much about how the industry actually works. Getting firsthand, real-world experience feels completely different from working on school projects and it’s something you really can’t learn in a classroom, and it’s been exciting to experience that transition.

On the social media side, I’d love to post more consistently and create content that genuinely inspires people, while collaborating with brands I’ve admired for a long time. Social media has become my creative outlet and a space where I can share things I love. I started posting just for fun during my sophomore year of college, simply because I truly enjoy taking photos and sharing aesthetics and I’d love to continue growing that in a more intentional way.

7. What’s next for you?

Hahaha I’m really not sure other than I’m just trying to get more experience in my career field, I love both architecture and fashion so I’m hoping to work at a firm that will allow me to do both. Even though there’s so much uncertainty within these next few months, I’m excited to see what’s ahead for me.

I’m also planning to pursue a master’s degree, hopefully in London within the next year or two. I’ve always loved the city and would love to live there for a while before eventually returning to Indonesia. And long-term, my dream is to start my own firm back home one day!!
