LAUNE x Threaded Gray
Threaded Gray began as a creative outlet and grew into a brand centered on comfort, color, and handmade intention. Founded by Isabelle, the LA-based label is built on the idea that cozy pieces can still feel thoughtful, expressive, and personal. What started on the floor of her childhood bedroom during the pandemic has evolved into a collection of handmade sets designed to feel effortless but never boring. In this interview, Isabelle shares the story behind Threaded Gray, her creative process, her dream collab, and favorite LA spots.
1. Tell me about yourself and Threaded Gray. How was it created?
I’ve been obsessed with arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. From friendship bracelets and dance costumes to my first attempt at a bikini line as a little girl, fashion and creativity have always been my playground. After attending the University of Southern California, I graduated from the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism in 2020. When the world came to a halt during the pandemic, like so many recent graduates, I struggled to find work and looked for ways to stay busy. I started tie-dying and stitching on the floor of my childhood bedroom—right in the same spot where I used to play with my dollhouse and let my imagination run wild. I was simply having fun, with no idea this little passion project would grow into what Threaded Gray is today.
2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Threaded Gray?
Threaded Gray was born during a time when the world was living in loungewear, quarantined at home. The goal was to create pieces that feel cozy and effortless, yet still make you feel semi pulled together. The mood of Threaded Gray has always been rooted in comfort without compromise: cozy, cute, and comfy.
3. What inspires you?
I’m constantly influenced by the people around me—my friends, Los Angeles (where I was born and raised), and especially my mom, who is the craftiest and most creative person I know. I also love seeing what other female fashion founders are building and how they bring their vision to life. From roaming fabric stores to pulling unexpected color combinations from nature, inspiration often comes from small, everyday moments that spark something new.
4. Everything at Threaded Gray is handmade. What does the creative process look like?
When creating new sets, my process is very hands-on and exploratory. I start by pulling inspiration from everywhere—Pinterest, other brands, and things I notice around me. From there, I love heading to the Downtown Los Angeles fabric district to source fabric samples and trims, and to create patches. I spend a lot of time playing with color combinations, placements, and patch shapes until the design feels right. Once I feel confident in a set, I always value getting feedback. I’ll share ideas with a small circle—my longtime supporters, friends, and my boyfriend, who is incredibly creative and whose perspective I trust deeply.
5. What are you looking forward to in 2026?
I’m SO excited for 2026! I have so many new designs and color combinations in the works, and I’m excited to continue pushing the brand visually. While our NY set is currently a best seller, Threaded Gray is an LA-based brand at heart, so I am right now working on pieces inspired by Los Angeles! I’m also excited to develop new blanks and silhouettes, and to introduce a few sets designed specifically with guys in mind. On top of that, I’m looking forward to fun collaborations and photoshoots that bring the brand’s energy and community to life.
6. What’s next for you and Threaded Gray?
Right now, Threaded Gray is my passion project and ‘side hustle’ alongside a 9–5 job that I also love. That balance has been a fun challenge to take on, but I’m definitely itching to scale the brand and work toward making Threaded Gray my full-time focus. I’m excited to keep building thoughtfully, expanding the vision, and seeing where it can go. It feels like there’s so much ahead, and I’m really excited for what’s to come!
